Organic Einkorn Wheat Berries 10 lb.

We pack our einkorn wheat berries right at the farm where they are grown! Wheat berries are the whole grain or kernel. Einkorn grows inside an outer husk which is carefully cleaned, without polishing or pearling the grain so you are eating 100% of the bran and germ. Einkorn is the first and most ancient variety of wheat that has never been hybridized and is quickly becoming the wheat of choice for the gluten sensitive because of its very weak gluten. 

 

Einkorn wheat berries should be stored properly to ensure freshness. The most prudent step to proper storage is estimating and storing only what you’ll be using over a 1-2 month period and not opening more than that amount. If you bake infrequently, it is not a good idea to buy a bulk amount. It’s best to buy smaller amounts more frequently and then always work with the freshest ingredients.

 

We recommend wheat berries be stored in an airtight container in a cool pantry away from direct sunlight for up to 2 months. For longer storage or if the temperature in your kitchen is frequently above 75⁰F, storing in a fridge or freezer in an airtight container is recommended.

 

Berries can be milled or cooked directly from cold storage.
